Parents of adult adopted children are invited to the fifth of our monthly, face to face, peer support groups being held at Fitzroy North Library.

Topics will be based on the needs identified by participants over the last two months and will be guided by the rich, shared wisdom of participants’ experience within the group. The forum is a safe, non-judgemental space for sharing experiences and a deep sense of trust and respect for participants, together with a good deal of hope and humour.

Where: Edinburgh Gardens Community Room, Brunswick Street, North Fitzroy (this month only) then will revert back to Bargoonga Nganjin Community Hub - Fitzroy library, 182-186 St Georges Rd, Fitzroy North

Dates:  Wednesdays 24 April, Wednesdays 22 May, Wednesdays 26 June

Time:    7:30pm to 9.00pm

Topic:   'Connecting with our adult children' - a look at Dan Hughes's P.A.C.E. (Playful, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) model and how it can be applied to family relationships.

Support & Services

As the go to organisation for the community, PCA Families delivers individual support and peer support services to permanent care, kinship care and adoptive families, informed by lived experience and research.

Information for Families

Whether you’re a prospective family, a new family or an established family, we have brought together information and resources to help navigate and respond to different stages of your family’s permanent care and adoption journey.

Advocacy

Permanent care, kinship care and adoptive families are an often hidden and under-supported group. They care for some of the most vulnerable children in our community.  We often hear from parents and carers that raising children from permanent care, kinship care and adoption backgrounds is rewarding, but that many families also experience a range of challenges. Families deserve to have their voices heard by those who make decisions on behalf of children.

Support Us

Donations enable PCA Families to deliver high quality programs and advocate with and for children and families.  PCA Families also supports parents and carers to become self-advocates. You can get involved by:
