The Joint Inner and Outer Eastern Carer Advisory Group (CAG) is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for permanent carers to become representatives.
The CAGs were established to improve the lines of communication between carers, community service organisations and the Department Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).
The CAGs provide an opportunity for carers and carer representatives to contribute to the future design of the children and families services system in Victoria. Divisional CAGs share updates on their activities and progress at quarterly meetings. They discuss the challenges carers are facing and how CAGs can help to address these challenges. CAGs also spend time on developing their local area plans, focusing on strengthening and supporting carers at the local level. The CAGs will be a key part of implementing the Victorian Government’s recently announces Carer Strategy available at https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/publications/victorian-carer-strategy-2018-2022
The current terms of reference (TOR) for the CAGs don’t include permanent carers as representatives and therefore have not previously sought or enabled permanent carers to become representatives. PCA Families are working with DFFH to develop updated TOR for the CAGs so that all divisional CAGs will be able to invite EOI’s from permanent carers. We hope to progress having permanent carers on all CAGs over the coming months.
The Joint Eastern CAG has decided to start the process of inviting permanent carers to become representatives on this CAG and are seeking EOI’s from permanent carers. The Joint Inner and Outer Eastern CAG comprises the following Local Government Areas (LGAs) are are seeking permanent carers who live in these areas:
