FASD Workshop 1

 

This workshop is brought to in conjuction with Carer KaFE for adoptive, kinship or permanent carers who may be caring for a child with FASD, or who would like to learn more about FASD. No prior knowledge is expected.

This workshop will cover:

  • What is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder?
  • Characteristics of FASD across the lifespan
  • Diagnosis and assessment
  • Effects of FASD on cognition and behaviour
  • Principles for supporting children and young people

This session is the first part of a series of workshops with Prue Walker, a renowned expert in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), designed specifically for Permanent Care and Adoptive Families. Dive deep into understanding FASD, from its diagnosis and characteristics across the lifespan to effective strategies for support in home, school, and community settings. The second workshop: Supporting children and young people with FASD in out of home care, will be on 24 April 2024. 

These workshops will equip you with the knowledge and skills to positively impact the lives of children and young people with FASD.
