Calling all Dads...

You are invited to a retreat on 21-22 June 2024 at RACV Inverloch

Thank you to those who completed the survey on our inaugural Dads retreat; it has assisted in planning our first retreat and look forward to you joining us.

As previously mentioned we have received funding from the Department of Health (Maternal and Child Health) which we are using to hold a Dads retreat.

As we know the role of Dad is immensely impactful, influencing a child's development and wellbeing from infancy through to adulthood. Recognising that new fathers can sometimes feel daunted by the responsibilities of parenthood, our goal is to create spaces where dads can openly discuss challenges, share their journeys, and foster meaningful connections and support networks.

The weekend retreat aims to support and celebrate the resilience of parents and enable you the opportunity to reflect through shared learning and networking. Dads will come together for relaxed training sessions as well as focus on self-care to enhance feelings of health and wellbeing.

The criteria:

  1. Must have one or more children under 8 years old
  2. Child must be either adopted (local or intercountry), permanent care or be on a Family Law Court Order
  3. Must be available to attend both Saturday and Sunday

The Program is being shaped but includes:

  • Exploring parental challenges
  • Early child development
  • Engaging in age-appropriate activitives
  • Understanding and participating in early years services that promote health, learning and development, early childhood education and more
  • Building confidence in parenting skills
  • Encouraging the adoption of healthy behaviours, ie, active engagement in caregiving, promoting gender equality, building strong emotional bonds with children.
  • Learning about self care strategies, stress management techniques, mental health, and the importance of seeking professional help when needed.
There will be a program distributed to you once your place is confirmed.  There will be a mix of free time to mingle or relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounds in Inverloch.
